Michelle Branch was born early, on July 2nd, 1983. She weighed not 4 pounds! Michelle says, "I guess I just couldn't wait to get out and see the world. I haven't changed a bit."
Michelle started singing at age 3. One day she went to a New Kids on the Block concert and from that day on wanted to be a pop star. When she was eight she was enrolled in voice lessons. Michelle went to a Catholic school and had to wear a uniform, but every Friday there was Mass and she loved it because she could sing!
She lived in Flagstaff, Arizona until she was 11, when she moved to Sedona. She loved the beauty of it, but her voice lessons were back in Flagstaff. That's when she met Gina Bettum. Gina was now giving out voice lessons and Michelle loved them! When she was 14 she asked for a guitar and got one. She made up a song a day after she got one! Michelle worked on songs constantly, but when school started she was sad because she couldn't work on her songs as much.
But it was at school that she met her best friend, a fellow musician named Jen Hagio. A cool thing about Michelle is that she wrote some songs during math class! Did you know that Sweet Misery is one? She wrote it during algebra! That's probably exactly what I would have done. Math stinks!!
When she was 15 she left the high school to be home schooled, because she desperately wanted to continue her career in music. Eventually, after two anxious months of waiting, she got a call back from a person she had given her demo and photo to-Jeff Rabhan. In April 2000 she went into the studio to start recording Broken Bracelet. In March 2001 she finished The Spirit Room, her first major label record.
Michelle has been featured on many, many shows and is getting to be very famous! She is rockin' on!
THE END.
